Robert J. Barnes, 29, of W. Main St., Corfu, was charged after the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the FBI that Barnes allegedly tried to purchase a firearm in the Village of Corfu at 5 West Main street on August 2, 2019 while there was an active order of protection against him.
Further investigation revealed that Barnes allegedly put false information on the background form that was submitted to the ATF Bureau.
Barnes is charged with falsifying business records 1st, a class E felony, and attempted criminal contempt 2nd, a class B misdemeanor.
Barnes was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Village of Corfu Court on September 10, 2019 at 1:00p.m.
