WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/LeRoy man jailed and charged with aggravated DWI

Justin R. Swift, 40, of LeRoy was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Orangeville on August 29, 2019.

Swift was pulled over at 11:38p.m.for speeding and failing to signal for lane changes. He also continued driving for a distance when police were attempting to pull him over.

Swift was found to have an open container of alcohol in his vehicle along with a seven year old child. He failed roadside standardized field sobriety testing and was taken into custody.

The child was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where she was later released to a family member. Swift was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he refused to submit to a breath chemical test.

Swift is charged with aggravated DWI, child in vehicle, DWI, refusal of pre-screen breath test, consumption of alcohol in motor vehicle, failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle, no signal, and speed over 55MPH.

Swift was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where his license was suspended pending a DMV Refusal Hearing. He was committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $5,000.00 cash bail or $10,000.00 bond, and is was scheduled to return to the Town of Orangeville Court on October 2, 2019 for further proceedings.

Following an investigation into a traffic complaint on Royce Road in the Town of Orangeville, Anthony J. Hilton, 54, of Orangeville, was identified as the driver of a vehicle which left burn out marks in the roadway.

Hilton was found to be intoxicated along with having a suspended driver’s license. Hilton provided a breath sample while at the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office which showed Hilton to have a BAC of .16%.

Hilton is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC over .08%, and aggravated unlicensed operation in the 1st degree.

Hilton was released with appearance tickets and is to appear in Orangeville Town Court on September 4, 2019.

Bayne R. Johnson Jr, 48, of Perry, was arrested on August 28, 2019 after being observed operating a vehicle with a known suspended driver’s license.

Johnson Jr. was stopped by deputies along with Officer Spink of the Perry Police Department.

After a roadside investigation, Johnson Jr. was found to be in possession of 28 grams of marijuana.

Following field sobriety testing, he was placed under arrest for DWAI/drugs. Johnson Jr. was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition expert.

Johnson Jr. was determined to be impaired by multiple categories of drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.

He is charged with unlicensed operator, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd, DWAI/drugs, and DWAI/ Combination of Drugs.

Johnson Jr. was released on appearance tickets and will appear in the Village of Perry Court on September 17, 2019 at 1:00p.m.

Joshua M. Vroman, 25, of Silver Springs, was arrested following a traffic stop on State Route 19A in the Town of Genesee Falls on August 28, 2019.

Vroman was pulled over for multiple vehicle and traffic infractions, and was found to have an expired NYS Learner’s Permit which had a total of two active suspensions.

Vroman, who performed poorly on roadside standardized field sobriety testing, was then arrested for DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation. Vroman’s vehicle was towed from the scene, and he was taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Vroman was evaluated by a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Drug Recognition Expert and found to be impaired by alcohol and cannabis and unable to operate a vehicle safely.

He is charged with DWAI/drugs, driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs and alcohol, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd , unlicensed operation, speed over 55MPH, no plate lamps, and driver’s view obstructed.

Vroman was released to a third party and is scheduled to answer the charges on September 25, 2019 in the Town of Genesee Falls Court.

“The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.”
