Approximately 1,000 students in grades 8-12 from two dozen school districts across the GLOW region attended the first ever GLOW With Your Hands event, a hands-on career exploration experience where students were able to do first-hand activities associated with careers, like welding, bricklaying, electrical wiring, heavy equipment operation, advanced manufacturing agriculture and carpentry.
The event was held at the Genesee County Fairgrounds on East Main street in Batavia today and was made possible by GLOW region economic development agency executives, workforce development leaders, and educators.
Major employers in the GLOW region and various construction trades unions attended the event to simulate the functions and skills of the various jobs that are in demand.
