On October 18, 2019, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Village of Castile Park for a report of a vehicle T-boning another car.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that Guy Kovacs Jr., 39, of Castile, drove his vehicle intentionally into his spouse’s vehicle as she sat in the vehicle. It was reported that the two had been arguing throughout the day and Kovacs’ spouse had left so things could cool down at home.
Kovacs then also left the residence and located his wife at the park and drove his vehicle into the front driver’s side of her car. Kovacs’ wife was not injured, but there was heavy damage to both vehicles.
Kovacs is charged with a felony charge of criminal mischief and a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment in the second degree.
He was arraigned and released on pre-trial release and is to answer the charges at a later date.
Brent J. Zafuto, 35, of Geneseo, was arrested on South Main Street at Washington Street in the Village of Warsaw on October 25, 2019.
Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped to assist a vehicle parked in the driving lane and found Zafuto to be the operator. Zafuto was found to have a non-driver identification card which had been suspended since 2007.
Zafuto was issued traffic tickets for aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, unlicensed operator, and stopped on pavement. The front right passenger, Bobbie L. Weston, 41, of Geneseo, who was the registered owner of the vehicle, was issued a traffic ticket for facilitating aggravated unlicensed operation.
Both Zafuto and Weston were released from the scene and are each scheduled to answer the charges on November 11, 2019 in the Village of Warsaw Court.
Weston, who had a valid driver’s license, drove the vehicle from the scene.
On October 15, 2019, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dustin Ellwood, 40, of Portageville.
Ellwood was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear out of the Town of Genesee Falls, and a warrant out of Castile for violation of probation.
Ellwood was arraigned on the warrants and committed to jail on separate charges.
