The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious physical injury two vehicle accident that occurred on Rt. 98 near Pike road in the Town of Batavia at 11:55a.m.
A 1999 Ford pick up truck, color green, was traveling south on Rt. 98 and left its lane of travel, striking a 2016 Toyota pick up truck that was traveling north on Rt. 98 head-on. The impact sent the Toyota pick up truck off the east shoulder of the road. The driver of the Toyota, Jared L. Grossman, 36, of Oakfield had to be extricated from his vehicle. The driver of the Ford pick up, Stephen M. Esposito, 30, of Cowlesville, was not injured.
Grossman was transported to Strong Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident is still being determined.
The investigation is being handled by Deputy Kenneth Quackenbush, Deputy Nicholas Chamoun, Deputy Ryan DeLong and members of the Genesee County Criminal Investigations Division.
At this time there are pending charges against Esposito.
Assisting at the scene were members of the Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy EMS.
