Quinten Edmonds, 31, of Rochester, was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence of 20 years to life in state prison in Genesee County Court on Wednesday morning in the death of 43 year old Michael Paladino on June 1, 2019.

Edmonds pleaded guilty to murder 2nd in January of 2020.

Edmonds was involved in a physical altercation with a female on the sidewalk near 5 & 7 Ross Street.

An un-involved party, Michael Paladino, heard the argument and attempted to intervene. A physical altercation then ensued between Paladino and Edmonds. During the altercation Paladino sustained life-threatening injuries.

Paladino was transported to UMMC and later succumbed to his injuries.

On Wednesday morning, Paladino’s aunts, mother and girlfriend read statements in court as to what life has been like without a son, brother, boyfriend and father over the last year.

Today would have been Paladino’s 44th birthday.

“No parent should have to lose their child, there will never be a moment I won’t think about him. Your actions tell me you are a coward and a threat to society. You should never be free,” said Mary Jo, Michael Paladino’s mother.

Before sentencing, Quinten Edmonds told the court he was drinking and took the situation too far.

“I was not brought up like this,” Edmonds said.

“I was wrong and surely am sorry,”
