Deputies responded to Route 19A in the Town of Castile for the report of a tractor trailer vs. passenger car motor vehicle accident on February 18, 2020.
Rodney J. Wilcox, 48, of Almond, NY, was operating a 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer while traveling south on Route 19A. Wilcox failed to maintain his lane of travel, entering the north bound lane and striking a 2008 Chevrolet.
Three occupants in the 2008 Chevrolet were temporarily entrapped within the vehicle. Castile along with Silver springs rescue and fire utilized their jaws of life to cut away the vehicle’s roof to remove the occupants. The driver of the vehicle was removed from the scene by Medic 80 to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The two other passengers were removed by Castile ambulance to the Wyoming County Community Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
Wilcox was uninjured in the accident, and was issued a traffic summons for failure to keep right.
The investigation remains under investigation, and further charges are pending.
