PRESS RELEASE March 25, 2020 @ 2:00 p.m.
Chairman of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors, Jerry L. Davis, reports:
As of 1:00 p.m. today, 4 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed.
The most recent positive case is currently residing in another County, with no Wyoming County close contacts.
The Wyoming County Health Department receives reports of all positive confirmed cases among Wyoming County residents, regardless of where the individual was tested.
The testing figures as of Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 5:00 pm are as follows:
42 tests have been administered by the Wyoming County Health Department since March 16, 2020. 19 tested negative for COVID-19, 23 tests are still pending results.
Test kits and laboratory testing remain in short supply in the entire WNY Region.
Testing is also occurring among other private healthcare practitioners in Wyoming County, only those confirmed cases are relayed to the Health Department.
The rates of testing and results are not the sole indicator of COVID-19 as it circulates in our community. Please continue social distancing measures to slow the spread of illness in Wyoming County and beyond.
As our communities continue to take precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Wyoming County, we want to ensure our residents have accurate information they need to stay healthy and safe.
Wyoming County has launched a COVID-19 response line to respond to questions from residents. The response line can connect callers to the right resources in our local communities.
The response line will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 585-786-8911. Hours of operation will be adjusted based on volume of calls.
Staff of the response line cannot provide individual medical advice or a diagnosis through the hotline. If you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19 and are symptomatic, call your health care provider.
The Wyoming County Community Health System, Health Department and Emergency Services are still in need of personal protective equipment.
