“Despite tragic times there are still good people in this community,” says Elizabeth Austin, of Oakfield.
Every year on the 28th of March for the past 22 years, Austin has always been able to put something on her daughters grave and spend a little time with her. However, because Austin has a severe lung disease and being such a high risk during this time, she is unable to do that this year as she has been on lockdown inside her house since the second week of March.
“I am terrified to have any contact with anyone in fear of the spread. I have been really just having a hard time dealing with the fact that this year would be the first year I couldn’t visit her grave, it tore me apart.”
So this morning, Austin posted a on Facebook and explained how upset she was about not being able to be at the cemetery on March 28th.
Several people responded by dropping off items at her daughters grave and even left a note explaining why Austin could not be there on Saturday. Family members and a neighbor reached out to assist Austin.
“It really touched my heart they took the time to help ease my mind,” she said.
Austin wanted to let people know how great the community we live in truely is.
“I recieved a few messages and pictures that brought me to tears, people in the community reached out to me and made sure that there would be stuff on her grave for March 28th for me. I am blessed, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!”
