The Salvation Army of Batavia usually helps two to three families obtain meals, three times a week. Currently they are caring for 25-40 families. Their supplies were exhausted until Northgate Church hosted a food drive this past Monday.
Today, a “Pop Up” Mobile Pantry was held with Foodlink and the Salvation Army at Northgate Church on Bank street. Due to people receiving the recent stimulus checks, the Mobile Pantry was not as busy according to organizers.
Director of Operations at Northgate, Mark Logan, says all of the remaining food donations were dropped off at the Salvation Army after today’s “Pop Up” Pantry and the shelves at the Salvation Army are now replenished thanks to the local community and their food donations.
