Both occupants of a vehicle were arrested after a property damage motor vehicle collision on Route 19 in the Town of Covington on June 24, 2020. Jason W. Whitehead, Jr., 22, of Batavia, was driving a 2003 Subaru Legacy eastbound on Route 19, when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve at the intersection of Court Road, and his vehicle drove off the roadway, sheared off a telephone pole, and took down multiple roadway signs.
Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene with the Pavilion Fire Department.
At the scene, Whitehead was found to allegedly be in possession of cocaine and marijuana. He was also found to have a non-driver identification card with an active suspension.
Whitehead also performed poorly on field sobriety testing at the scene, and he was arrested for DWAI/drugs.
The passenger in the vehicle, Dakota E. Woodruff, 20, of Olean, was found to have a felony warrant out of Erie County. Woodruff was arrested and transported to Erie County where he was turned over to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
Whitehead was transported from the scene to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. He was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert, and it was determined Whitehead was impaired by multiple categories of drugs and was unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Whitehead is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd, DWAI/drugs, driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, unlicensed operation, and moving from a lane unsafely.
Whitehead was released to a sober family member and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Covington Court on July 13, 2020.
**UPDATE**
On June 25, 2020 Whitehead was again arrested in connection with the same complaint after the owner of the vehicle reported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office that Whitehead had been driving the vehicle without consent. Whitehead was arrested on the Warrant of Arrest by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office later took custody of Whitehead on the warrant.
Whitehead was further charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle 3rd.
Whitehead was released from custody after he was charged and is scheduled to answer the additional charge on the same date as the previous charges in the Town of Covington Court.
Ambria R. Krohn, 28, of Buffalo, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw on June 20, 2020.
Krohn was operating a 2013 Volkswagen westbound on Route 20A, directly behind a fully marked Wyoming County Sheriff’s vehicle.
Krohn was tailgating and swerving aggressively to the left to see past the patrol vehicle, which was in a line of vehicles. Krohn then passed the marked Wyoming County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle in a no passing zone at which time a traffic stop was conducted.
Krohn immediately exited her vehicle without being requested to and appeared to be under the influence. Krohn performed poorly on field sobriety tests that were administered and following an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert was arrested and charged with DWAI/drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana and passing in a no passing zone.
Krohn was processed and released to a friend and is scheduled to answer the above charges in the Town Warsaw on June 29, 2020.
Humaun R. Latif , 21, of Buffalo, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Sheldon on June 23, 2020.
Latif was stopped for illegal tint covering his entire windshield, and during the traffic stop Latif was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana.
Latif was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd , no front plate, illegal side window tint, and illegally tinted windshield.
Latif is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Sheldon Court on July 13, 2020.
