On June 16, 2020 the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested three Monroe County residents after an investigation into two larceny complaints at Wal-Mart in the Town of Warsaw on Rt. 19.
Amelia Kemp-Mancuso, 20, of Rochester, Jason C. Engert 35 of Rochester, and a 16 year old male from Rochester, are facing numerous charges after they were allegedly found to be involved in two separate shoplifting complaints.
Kemp-Mancuso, Engert and the underage teen allegedly stole about $400 worth of merchandise on June 13th, and another $200 worth on July 15th. They were able to escape from being apprehended, but a vehicle description was obtained by Wal-Mart Security. The vehicle was located driving on Route 19 in the Town of Covington by Sergeant Colin Reagan and stopped due to the investigation. Some of the stolen goods were still inside of the vehicle.
Kemp-Mancuso and Engert were each charged with one count of criminal possession of stolen property 5th degree, 2 counts of petit larceny, 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of conspiracy 6th degree. Both received appearance tickets on all charges returnable to the Town of Warsaw Court at a later date.
The 16 year old is charged with two counts of petit larceny and one count of criminal possession of stolen property 5th degree. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Wyoming County Probation.
Assisting with the investigation were: Sergeant Aaron Chase, Sergeant Colin Reagan, Investigator Bradley McGinnis, Deputy Renee Ficarella, Deputy Adam Hope, the Geneseo Police Department, Wyoming County Probation, and Wal-Mart Asset Protection.
On July 2, 2020 at approximately 2:10a.m., a Deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in The Village of Arcade for a violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Upon approaching the vehicle and speaking with the occupants, the Deputy believed that the occupants were engaged in criminal activity. A brief roadside investigation revealed that the passenger, Frank T. Bonafede, was in possession of a quantity of suspected heroin and cocaine.
Further investigation revealed that Bonafede allegedly possessed the substances with intent to distribute to a third party. He was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd Degree – narcotic with intent to sell (B-Felony), criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th Degree (A-Misdemeanor), and criminal use of drug paraphernalia 2nd Degree – packaging (A-Misdemeanor).
Bonafede was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear at a later date.
On July 4, 2020 at about 10:07p.m., Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office deputies located a vehicle pulled over on the side of the roadway on Route 39 in the Town of Pike.
A check of the vehicle was done to make sure the operator, Kraig J. Geising, 36 of Pike, was not in need of any assistance. While speaking with Geising, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected emitting from within the vehicle. Geising was requested to submit to field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested for DWI.
Geising was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he did submit to a breath test which showed a blood alcohol content greater than the legal limit of 0.08%.
Geising is charged with DWI and driving with a BAC of .08 or more and was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Pike Court at a later date.
On July 5, 2020, at about 1:38p.m., Sergeant Aaron Chase of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling Route 63 in the Town of Covington. Samantha M. Corson, 20, of Lockport, was observed speeding, 79mph in a marked 55mph zone, and passing multiple vehicles in the area of Court Road.
Corson was stopped and the odor of marijuana was allegedly detected and emitting from inside of her vehicle. Corson submitted to roadside field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested for DWAI/drugs.
Corson was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where she underwent a drug influence evaluation by Sergeant Colin Reagan, who is certified Drug Recognition Expert. Corson was determined to be impaired by the use of drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Corson is charged with speeding, 79mph in a 55mph area, reckless driving, and DWAI/ drugs. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Covington Court at a later date.
Zachary T. Granger, 26, of Warsaw, was arrested following a traffic stop on Silver Springs Road in the Town of Warsaw on July 4, 2020.
Granger was stopped for failure to maintain his lane, and during the traffic stop he exhibited indicators of drug impairment. Granger performed poorly on field sobriety testing and was taken into custody.
Granger was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he was evaluated by a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Drug Recognition Expert. Granger was found to be impaired by drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Granger is charged with DWAI/Drugs and failure to keep right. Granger was issued an appearance ticket and scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Gainesville Court on July 20, 2020.
Delane A. Merke, 42, of Coatesville, PA, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 63 in the Town of Covington on July 4, 2020.
Merke, an over the road truck driver, was stopped for speeding. During the traffic stop Merke was found to have two active suspensions for failure to answer a summons, both dated back to 2004.
Merke was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, speed over 55MPH, and inadequate splash guards.
Merke was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Covington Court on July 20, 2020.
