On October 6, 2020, Joshua Maxwell, 40, of Belfast, NY, was arrested and charged with burglary 2nd, a class C felony, grand larceny 4th, a class E felony, and criminal mischief 4th, a class A misdemeanor.
The arrest comes after the conclusion of a yearlong investigation of a residential burglary that occurred on Route 19A in the Town of Genesee Falls on October 22, 2019.
Maxwell is accused of forcibly breaking into a home and stealing firearms and other property. On September 22, 2020, Wyoming County Sheriff Investigators with the assistance of New York State Police, located Maxwell in possession of numerous items of stolen property. Investigators were able to recover two firearms belonging to the Genesee Falls victim.
Maxwell is additionally charged with 5 separate counts of burglary 2nd by the New York State Police for residential burglaries that were committed in Allegany County.
Maxwell was arraigned and committed to jail on no nail.
He is to return to court at a later date.
Maxwell is a four time convicted felon, and now has 6 felony cases pending against him in Allegany County and 1 in Wyoming County.
