WYOMING COUNTY/LeRoy man pleads guilty to course of sexual conduct against a child

On Thursday, October 8, 2020, Buddy D. Moore Jr., 45, of LeRoy, NY pleaded guilty before the Honorable Michael M. Mohun to course of sexual conduct against a child 1st degree, a class B violent felony offense.

As part of the plea, Moore, Jr. admitted that “being eighteen years old or more,” he “engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct, which included at least one act of oral sexual conduct or sexual intercourse with a child less than thirteen years old.”

The crimes occurred between the years of November 1, 2003 and June of 2011, when the child was between the ages of four years old and 10 years old.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Moore will be sentenced to 15 years in New York State Prison and 5 years of post-release supervision. In addition, he will be subject to stay away orders of protection and waive his right to appeal. Lastly, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. As part of the plea, he was also advised that he may be civilly committed after his release from prison under the Mental Hygiene Law.

After Moore, Jr.’s guilty plea, Judge Mohun ordered that the defendant be held without bail and adjourned sentencing in this case until December 16, 2020.

Moore Jr. was arrested by the Warsaw Police Department in January of 2020 for Predatory Sexual Assault against a Child.

“I want to commend the bravery of the victim in this case in coming forward. The strength of this victim allowed us to hold this man accountable for these evil crimes. In addition, I want to thank Sgt. Jason Linderman and Chief Pete Hoffmeister of the Warsaw Police Department for their investigation of these crimes,” said Wyoming County District Attorney Donald O’Geen

The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Vincent A. Hemming. Marshall Kelly, Esq. represented the Defendant.
