85 year old Betsy Dexheimer is moving to Medina, Ohio next week. She is moving there to be closer to her son Paul.
Today, a group of friends, former co-workers and community members, along with members of GLOW Women Rise, held a drive-by goodbye parade for Dexheimer as she stood in front of her home on Woodrow road.
Many long time friends and neighbors along with their pets stopped by to wish Dexheimer well.
An iconic member of Batavia and surrounding communities, Dexheimer has lived in Batavia since 1968 and was a special education teacher for students with disabilities. She served as an advocate for the children and their parents. She also served at the Office of the Aging and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at the Richmond Memorial Library. Dexheimer helped out at St. James Episcopal Church, Rape Crisis, Hospice and Planned Parenthood.
Most recently, she, along with Esther Leadley, served as the grand marshals of the Women’s March in 2019. She has been important part of GLOW Women Rise and will be missed by many.
