Rachelle N. Laney, no address or age provided, was stopped on Griswold road in the Town of LeRoy on September 10, 2020 at 5:17p.m., following the observation of a vehicle and traffic violation.
During the stop, a license check found that Laney was operating her motor vehicle while her privilege to do so in New York was revoked.
After further interview with Laney, Trooper Shawn Gourdine and K-9 Ash were called to the scene. After deploying Ash, there was a positive alert for narcotics inside the vehicle.
A quantity of suspected narcotics, including a powdered substance and prescription medication were located during the search of the vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia.
The suspected narcotics were sent to a lab for testing. The lab found that the suspected powdered narcotics were a fentanyl mixture and the prescription medications were confirmed to be controlled substances
Laney was arraigned via Skype by Judge Charles Zambito due to COVID-19 protocol. In accordance with NYS bail reform law, the charges were not qualifying offenses and Laney was released on her own recognizance with a scheduled return date of appearance.
Aurello Aragon-Figueroa, 41, or Chapel Rd., Byron, is charged with grand larceny 3rd, a class D felony, and offering a false instrument for filing 1st, a class E felony, after allegedly not reporting income that he was earning and also filing applications that were used to determine eligibility for SNAP benefits without said income.
As a result, it is alleged that Aragon-Figueroa received $9,321 in SNAP benefits that he was not entitled to.
