Several volunteer fire companies came together to welcome Santa to the ranks at the Oakfield Fire Department on Saturday evening.
Santa was provided with a tour of the village via decorated fire trucks.
The cavalry of fire apparatus from Oakfield, Alabama, Elba and the Town of Batavia provided Santa with a tour to remember.
At Triangle Park, kids and their families waited for Santa to pass by to get a wave and a glimpse of Jolly Old St. Nick before Christmas arrives next week.
Oakfield Firefighter Joshua Finn organized the event in about 7 days, quickly calling in mutual aid from neighboring departments to join in the Santa tour and decorate their trucks for Christmas.
“I wanted to make things better, I have two little girls, ages 7 and 5, and I have fire trucks and I know Santa, so I said lets make this happen,” says Finn.
Finn says the Santa Tour attracted a lot of interest from area residents and he is hoping to continue the event next year.
