GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Two charged after Department of Social Services investigations

Corrine E. Navarra, 39, of Mill St., LeRoy, is charged with grand larceny 3rd and welfare fraud 3rd, after an investigation by the Department of Social Services on January 17, 2020.

Navarra allegedly failed to report income while receiving SNAP benefits, which would have lowered her benefit. Navarra allegedly received $3,840 in benefits she was not eligible for.

Navarra was arraigned on February 10, 2021 in County Court by Judge Zambito. She was released on recognizance.

Jason W. Doohan, 37, of Jerome Pl., Batavia, is charged with grand larceny 4th and offering a false instrument for filing 1st, after an investigation by the Department of Social Services on March 1, 2020.

Doohan allegedly failed to report income he earned scrapping metal, which resulted in Doohan receiving $1,464 in public assistance that he was not entitled to.

Doohan will appear in Batavia Town Court on April 8, 2021 at 1:00p.m. to answer the charges.

Christopher J.R. Diers, 38, of Ellicott St., Batavia, is charged with burglary 3rd and petit larceny, after allegedly stealing property from Walmart at 4133 Veteran’s Memorial Drive on February 5, 2021 at 3:12p.m.

Diers allegedly ran from the store security when he was approached at the exit. He was held at the Genesee County Jail for arraignment in County Court.
