Genesee County officials provide a briefing in regards to the latest developments in the pandemic, including an update about vaccinations.

About 11% have been vaccinated in Genesee County, 6,060 have received their first dose. In Orleans County, about 7.5% have been vaccinated and 3,052 have received their first dose, according to Genesee Orleans County Health Department Director Paul Pettit.

A request has been made to NYS to create a Regional Vaccination site at GCC for rural counties in the area, which is the current Genesee County vaccination location. Petit says the capacity at GCC is over 1,000 people in an 8 hour day. In Orleans, the County vaccination site is located at Ridgeway Fire Department on Rt. 104 and their capacity is over 700 people through this location if there was enough vaccine available.

Positive COVID-19 cases continue to fall due to less gatherings during the cold winter months.
