Michael A. Sweet, 35, of Varysburg, was arrested following a complaint at a residence on Route 20A in the Town of Sheldon on March 31, 2021.
Wyoming County Deputies responded to assist Wyoming County Child Protective Services at a residence on Route 20A in the Town of Sheldon and while at the residence, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was seized while a child under the age of one was present.
On the following date, Sweet was apprehended when he was observed returning to the residence.
Sweet was arrested and taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Sweet was also found to have an active arrest warrant out of Monroe County, NY for petit larceny.
Sweet was arraigned virtually in front of Wyoming County Court Judge Mohun, and was released to the supervision of the Pre-trial Release Supervision Program at the Wyoming County Probation Department.
Sweet was released from custody and is scheduled for further court proceedings on April 13, 2021 in the Town of Sheldon Court.
On April 2, 2021, at about 6:11p.m., deputies were pulling out of a local business parking lot on Route 78 in the Town of Sheldon, when a vehicle was observed pulling out of the same parking lot, turning westbound towards Erie County.
A random registration check showed the vehicle was suspended for insurance not in effect. The deputy pursued the vehicle westbound and initiated a vehicle and traffic enforcement stop near the county line.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Lexus James-Pollard, 22, of Buffalo.
Following a roadside investigation, James-Pollard was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked registration and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. James-Pollard was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sheldon Court at a later date.
