GENESEE ORLEANS/Health Dept./COVID-19 Update/23 new positive cases reported/7 hospitalized

o Data Update –4/9/21
o Genesee County reporting 15 new positive cases of COVID-19 for a total of 4797 positive cases.
 The new positive cases reside in the:
 West Region (Alabama, Darien, Pembroke)
 Central Region (Alexander, Batavia, Bethany, Elba, Oakfield)
 East Region (Bergen, Byron, LeRoy, Pavilion, Stafford)
 The individuals are in their 19-20’s, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 90’s.
 11 of the previous positive individuals have recovered and have been removed
from the isolation list.
 5 of the current positive individuals are hospitalized.
 2 of the new positive individuals are inmates at the Genesee County Jail.
 1 of the new positive individuals is a resident of the New York State Veterans’
Home at Batavia

o Orleans County reporting 8 new positive cases of COVID-19 for a total of 2646 positive
cases.
 The positive cases reside in the:
 West Region (Yates, Ridgeway, Shelby)
 Central Region (Carlton, Gaines, Albion, Barre)
 1 of the new positive individuals was on mandatory quarantine prior to testing
positive.
 8 of the previous positive individuals have recovered and have been removed
from the isolation list.
 2 of the current positive individuals are hospitalized.
 1 of the new positive individuals is an inmate at the Albion Correctional
Facility.
 One of yesterday’s positive individuals was determined not to be an Orleans
County resident, therefore that individual was removed from our count and
yesterday’s positive count was 16 new positives totaling 2638.

o As of April 6, 2021 anyone 16 years of age and older are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine
along with the other priority groups.

Pfizer vaccine is recommended for those 16 and older (those under 18 must have a parent / guardian present when getting the vaccine, check the NYS-run clinics for Pfizer vaccine: https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/).

Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are recommended for those 18 and older.
