The Alexander Trojans(4) come away with an upset win over the class D top seeded Oakfield/Alabama/Elba Aggies with the help of kicker Eric Cline.
Cline started the scoring midway through the first to make it 3-0 Alexander.
The Aggies responded almost immediately with quarterback Bodie Hyde running it down the sideline to give OAE the lead, 6-3, the extra point was good and it was 7-6. In the 2nd quarter, Cline kicked a second field goal to bring the Trojans within one point.
The score remained 7-6 OAE until later in the 3rd quarter when Alexander quarterback Nick Kramer battled his way to the red zone to set up a third Cline field goal early in the 4th quarter to make it 9-7 Alexander. Late in the fourth, OAE quarterback Nick Kramer found an open Ty Mott in the middle of the field, bringing the team within striking distance of the endzone.
The Aggies decided to go for a field goal, but the Trojans were able to block the kick with 5.5 seconds remaining on the clock in the 4th quarter, giving them the 9-7 win.
The 4th seeded Trojans will take on the number 2 seed, the Avon Braves, next Saturday afternoon at 1:00p.m. at Avon High school in the finals.
