GENESEE COUNTY/Batavia woman charged after receiving $7,792 in SNAP benefits she was not entitled to

Elizabeth F. Gates, 43, of Porter Ave., Batavia, is charged with grand larceny 3rd, offering a false instrument for filing 1st(6 counts), and forgery 3rd(7 counts), after allegedly receiving $ 7,792.00 in SNAP benefits that she was not eligible for on May 3, 2021.

Gates also forged a signature on 7 documents and provided 6 applications with false information to receive benefits.

She was arraigned by Justice Thurber in Oakfield Town Court on May 10, 2021 and released to appear in the Town of Batavia Court at a later date.

The investigation was conducted by Inv. Robert Riggi of the Department of Social Services.

Aaron M. R. Hatt, 25, of Broadway road, Alexander, is charged with burglary 2nd and criminal contempt 1st, following a complaint in the Town of Alexander on April 28, 2021 at 4:30a.m.

Hatt allegedly entered the residence of protected parties who had a full stay away order of protection. Hatt allegedly subjected the protected parties to physical contact.

Hatt was arraigned in Genesee County Court by Judge Zambito and remanded to the Genesee County Jail with bail set at $1,000 cash, $2,500 bond and $5,000 partially secured bond.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Alexander Court on May 25, 2021 at 9:00a.m.
