GENESEE COUNTY/ZONTA honors 8 local Senior girls with scholarships

The Zonta club of Batavia-Genesee County is pleased to announce the 2021 scholarship winners:

Ann Robertson Math/Science Scholarship-$1000-Madison Maniace who is senior at Pavilion Central High School. She will be attending RIT in the fall enrolled in the Physician Assistant Program.

Maybelle Ellis Science Scholarship-$1000-Tate Fonda, a senior at Batavia High School who will be pursing a dual degree in biology and English at either Syracuse University or Colgate University this fall.

Winnie Legg Business Scholarship-$1000-Kathryn Fitzpatrick also a senior at Batavia High School will be attending Fordham University in the Political Science program with the goal of becoming a Politician.

Patti Riner Agricultural Scholarship-$1000- Madison Harrington, a senior at Elba Central School will be attending Alfred State this fall enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program.

These scholarships are named after past influential members of the Zonta Club of Batavia-Genesee County.

Alex O’Brien Memorial Scholarship-$1000-Courtney Lougheed who is a senior at Batavia High School is enrolled in the new Photographic Science program at RIT.

This scholarship has been set up by the O’Brien family and is to be awarded to a student who has overcome difficulties to achieve their goals.

Zonta Higher Education Scholarship-$1000-Amy Stappenbeck who is a senior at Pavilion Central High School will be attending Alfred University this fall with a dual major in Spanish and biology in order to become a bilingual surgeon.

Muriel Pies Memorial Scholarship-$500-Karly Smith, the Valedictorian of Oakfield-Alabama Central School will be attending Roberts Wesleyan College studying Psychology and Criminal justice.

This scholarship has been established by the Pies family as Muriel was also a past member of our Zonta Club.

Zonta Higher Education Scholarship-$500-Lucia Lobello, the Salutatorian at Elba Central School, will be pursuing a premed major with a pediatric focus at either The Ohio State University, Dartmouth or Cornell this fall.

The funds for these scholarships come from our annual fundraisers. The 2021 Lucky Numbers Luncheon will be held Saturday August 21 at Batavia Downs. On November 13-14 our annual Holiday Festival will resume also being held at Batavia Downs.
