WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Three time convicted felon threatens police with a double bladed ax and a large stick during an investigation

John P. Mann, a 31 year old three time convicted felon, was arrested following an incident on Route 19A in the Town of Genesee Falls on June 6, 2021.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence following the report of a domestic incident which had occurred the night before. While investigating at the scene, Mann was uncooperative with police and retreated toward a wood line behind the residence. Mann emerged with a large double bladed ax and advanced aggressively at officers while displaying the ax. Deputies continued to negotiate with Mann, and were able to get Mann to drop the ax.

Mann still had a large stick in his hand which he refused to put down. He continued to advance toward deputies quickly and aggressively, and was threatening to kill the deputies. Mann was within several feet of deputies at which time a Taser was deployed successfully, and Mann was taken into custody without any of the deputies sustaining injury.

Mann was arrested and arraigned in Wyoming County Court on the charge of Menacing a Police Officer, class D violent felony. Mann is being held in the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 cash bail to await further court appearances.

Tramel E. Rhinehart, 34, of Buffalo, NY, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 20A at Christ Road in the Town of Warsaw on June 2, 2021.

Rhinehart was the driver of a vehicle stopped for having an expired 2020 vehicle inspection sticker, and Rhinehart was found to allegedly have a marihuana joint partially burned in the front cup holder.

Rhinehart was further found to have a three year old child in the rear seat of his vehicle. He performed poorly on standardized field sobriety testing and was taken into custody for DWAI/drugs. Rhinehart’s vehicle was towed from the scene, and his passengers were transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office to await a ride.

One of the passengers, an adult female, was cited for not wearing a seatbelt.

Once at the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, a drug influence evaluation was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert, who determined that Rhinehart was impaired by a drug and was unable to operate a vehicle safely. He was further found to have a previous DWI conviction within the past ten years.

Rhinehart is charged as follows:

DWAI/drugs– second offense (class E felony), aggravated DWI – child in vehicle (class E felony), consumption of cannabis in a motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle

Rhinehart was issued an appearance ticket and scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Warsaw Court on June 14, 2021.
