Attica community members held a rally to unmask children at schools on Thursday evening.
The group started out at the elementary school on Prospect street.
Hoping to catch the attention of board members making their way to the meeting, the group walked over a mile to the high school where the board meeting was being held.
“Our goal is to bring awareness to other community members that there is a large amount of parents and teachers that support the unmasking of students and medical freedom of choice,” says Kate MacLane, co-organizer.
The peaceful rally was followed by a speech during the public forum section at the Board of Education meeting. Organizer, parent and Attica Alumni, Rebecca Pope, explained the group’s position and their readiness to support the district if they choose to stand with the group and rise against the governor’s masking mandates.
The group has no intention on backing down from their cause and will continue to fight for the rights of their children keeping them safe and in good health,
