46 fire trucks from five different counties lined up in front of three year old Aurora Putney’s home in Perry on Thursday evening, to bring support and love to her and her family as Aurora has been fighting a rare form of Leukemia since March of 2019.
Aurora has spent many days at Golisano’s Children’s Hospital in Rochester and recently had a bone marrow transplant. Aurora was initially responding after the bone marrow transplant, but the rare Leukemia has returned.
After hearing the news this week, Aurora’s Uncle, Kyle Duschen, a volunteer firefighter at the Pike Fire Department for 16 years, wanted to do something special for his niece who loves the lights and sirens of fire trucks.
Duschen decided to make a Facebook post to gather a handful of fire trucks to drive by Aurora’s home. After only a few days, word spread like wildfire on social media and fire trucks from Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Allegany and Wyoming Counties gathered at Robbs Glass and made their way down Burke Hill road in a convoy, parking in the road in front of Aurora’s house.
About 100 firefighters, friends and family stood shoulder to shoulder providing their support and love to Aurora, her mom Crystal, her dad Kyle and brothers James and Christopher along with little sister Alexis.
