BATAVIA/Furniture store gets a façade makeover and official ribbon cutting

The Genesee County Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting event at Max Pies Furniture store at 400 S. Jackson street in Batavia on Friday afternoon.

The front of the store was recently updated with the assistance of several local contractors.

“This is what the old school sign actually looked like and that’s the thing we kept,” says Steve Pies.

Steve says the front façade was due for a make over and has needed one for sometime.

“It’s been on the radar for 30 years and I think it was one of those things where during COVID, we took some of the PPP money and we put it into infrastructure. It was way overdue, it was a matter of getting a little push from the Vieles saying we can do this now and we can get this done for you ,and my dad came to the conclusion that this needed to be done.”

The updated façade and improvements took about three months to complete.

“We put in all new windows, a new façade, we kinda modeled it after the Lambert building(on W. Main street in Batavia) I think it adds a nice flair to the community. Even though we have been a staple here for so long, the building was literally sinking and it was dirty and it was peeling, it was just a mess. We still have some things to do with the driveway and the roof, but we are really happy with it.”

Max Pies is holding a 14 hour remodel sale today and tomorrow.
