GENESEE COUNTY/Oakfield Fire Department honors Robert “Buck” Hilchey after 50 years of service

The Oakfield Fire Department honored Robert “Buck” Hilchey for 50 years of service to the Oakfield Volunteer Fire Department on Monday evening. Hilchey joined the department in 1971 and served with many of his family members. He was Chief of the Department from 1979-80 and then again in 1987-1992.

Hilchey also served as President of the Department from 2000-2001, and then again in 2005 and on the Board of Directors during his career. He was a member of the Ball stand committee and assisted in building Memorial Field next to the fire hall on Albert street. Hilchey also held the position of Chairman on the Fire Advisory Board.

History continues with members of Hilchey’s own family all serving the department currently.

Monday evening’s award ceremony was the first since 2019.
