Over 120 runners/walkers participated in the first “Running with the Irish” 5K/Run/Walk on Saturday morning, a fundraising event for the Notre Dame High School Athletics Department and GLOW ARC. Participants lined up for the start of the race at 73 Union Street, Notre Dame High School, at 10:00a.m., traveling to the VA and then down to Park road and back up Richmond avenue to Redfield Parkway and back to Richmond, ending at the parking lot of the school on Richmond.
Runners/walkers arrived dressed up for St. Patrick’s Day or in Notre Dame apparel.
Each participant received a long sleeve T-shirt.
A kids half mile fun run was held at Vandetta Stadium for those ages 3-12 at 9:00a.m. Ribbons for winners in age categories and participation medals for all were awarded after the kids run. Age categories were 3-5, 6-8, 9-10, and 11-12.
A traditional corned beef and cabbage meal was available for purchase after the run/walk and was prepared by TF Brown’s.
There was an Awards & Post Race Party with food trucks.
