PERRY, NY- Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Rochester woman on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop and investigation by the Perry Police Department.
On March 31, 2022, at 6:33 p.m., Officer Kramell conducted a traffic stop on South Main Street in the Village of Perry for a vehicle and traffic law violation. Upon interacting with the suspect, 45-year-old Cherlyn A. Isaac of Rochester, NY, Officer Kramell suspected Isaac to be impaired.
Officer Kramell requested that Isaac submit to standardized field sobriety tests, which she complied.
Isaac did not perform the tests as instructed and was subsequently arrested for driving while ability impaired (DWAI) by drugs. After further investigation, officers suspected drug activity to be present. It was discovered that Isaac was allegedly in possession of cocaine.
A record check also revealed that Isaac was operating with a suspended NY driver’s license with 13 scoffs on 5 dates for a total of 15 suspensions. A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) was requested to respond. Sgt. Chase of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, who is a DRE, met with Isaac at Perry Police Department to perform the evaluation. It was the Sergeant’s expert opinion that Isaac was allegedly impaired by multiple drug categories and, therefore, was unable to operate a motor vehicle safely on a public highway.
Per NYS Bail Reform laws, Isaac was processed at the Perry Police Department and released to a sober third party. She is to appear in Perry Village Court on May 10, 2022 to answer for the below charges.
Assisting with the investigation was also Officer David Spink.
