According to an update from Haylee Cloy, wife of Don Cloy, 35, of Perry, a live liver donor has been confirmed as of April 1st, 2022. Don’s cousin has stepped forward as the donor to assist the father of twin 10-year-old daughters. The surgery date is May 10th, 2022.
The surgery is 6-7 hours, the hospital stay is 5-7 days and recovery is 6-12 weeks.
According to Haylee, Don has been disconnected from his last round of chemotherapy and once surgery is complete, he will be cancer free.
This past May, Don was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He completed 12 rounds of chemotherapy between May and November of 2021 and then had colon resection surgery on December 6, 2021. His colon surgery removed all cancer from his colon. He then resumed chemotherapy the first week of January through March.
“We cannot express how truly grateful we are for all of the support we have had and all the many people sharing our information, advocating for us to find a donor,” says Haylee in an updated Facebook post.
“We have received so many thoughts, messages and phone calls, all of which are so appreciated. Those that have prayed for us, thank you. God is good. He is listening. Prayers work. Now, all we ask is to continue to pray for everything to continue without any hiccups and that both of these wonderful men have smooth surgeries and recoveries. We couldn’t ask for a better team of doctors working on them both.”
