Six Flags Darien Lake held a hard hat tour of the water park’s newest thrill slide, Wahoo Wave, on Wednesday morning.
The 60-foot-tall addition will rank as one of the tallest water rides in Hurricane Harbor.
From the Wahoo Wave Fact sheet, it is 6 stories with a 30-foot vertical plunge. First you will barrel down an enclosed tunnel slide, twisting around tight turns and sliding down 30 feet. Then you will drop three stories into Wahoo Wave’s signature feature, a huge water wave wall. Riders slide vertically up the wall and let gravity pull them back down with weightlessness into the splash pool below
Following a six-story climb to the top of the tower, Wahoo Wave rides will twist through a hairpin turn, followed by a corkscrew. Without warning, riders in four-person tubes will plunge down an unforgettable, three-story drop. This adrenaline-packed adventure will send riders into near-vertical motions to experience extended hang times and zero g-forces.
Wahoo Wave is scheduled to open when the park opens Memorial Day weekend, Saturday May 28, 2022.
The Park opened their first waterslide complex, marking the beginning of a themed attraction base in 1977 and the first full year of operation as a complete amusement park facility, which included the addition of The Viper was 1982.
