WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Batavia man accused of driving while impaired by drugs with two teenage passengers in vehicle

Memphis A. Chamberlain, 21, of Batavia, NY was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 19A in the Town of Genesee Falls on May 27, 2022.

A Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant assigned to a Memorial Day DWI Crackdown Detail conducted a traffic stop with a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix on Route 19A for traffic infractions. During the traffic stop, Chamberlain was found to be the driver and was observed to be exhibiting multiple general indicators of drug impairment.

An odor of burned cannabis was detected coming from within the vehicle, and Chamberlain was found to have two passengers who were ages 15 and 17. Chamberlain was also found to be driving with an expired NYS driver’s license.

During a roadside investigation, the 17-year-old female was found to have over 24 grams of concentrated cannabis concealed on her person and inside her backpack, and it was alleged that Chamberlain had given the concentrated cannabis to the 17-year-old. Chamberlain performed poorly on roadside field sobriety testing, and he was taken into custody for driving while ability impaired by drugs.

He was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he was evaluated by a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Drug Recognition Expert. Chamberlain was determined to allegedly be impaired by a drug an unable to operate a vehicle safely. He is charged as follows:

Criminal Sale of Cannabis in the Second Degree [Class E Felony]

Unlawful Possession of Cannabis

Aggravated DWI – Child in Vehicle [Leandra’s Law, Class E Felony]

Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs

Unlicensed Operation

Driver’s View Obstructed

Modified Muffler

Unauthorized Stickers on Windshield

Chamberlain was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges in the Town of Genesee Falls Court on June 8, 2022. He was released to a third party after being processed on the above-mentioned charges.

Christopher Bitsas, 40, of Hume, NY, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 19A in the Town of Genesee Falls on May 27, 2022.

Bitsas was stopped due to having a Superior Court Warrant of Arrest for a violation of probation. Bitsas was further found to allegedly be in possession of a capsule containing methamphetamine along with a glass smoking device.

Bitsas is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Bitsas was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges in the Town of Genesee Falls Court on June 8th, 2022. Regarding the warrant, Bitsas was arraigned in Wyoming County Court and held without bail.

A traffic stop of a red ATV, that was observed operating on Northwoods Road with no registration, led to the arrest of the owner/operator, Erica L. Lockwood, 31, of Cuba, NY on May 27, 2022 for DWAI drugs.

Lockwood was showing general indicators of impairment roadside and was asked to submit to standardized field sobriety testing, which she performed poorly.

Lockwood was taken into custody for DWAI, where she then submitted to a DRE evaluation that concluded that she was under the influence of a CNS stimulant and unable to operate a vehicle safely.

Lockwood was also found to be in possession of a “meth pipe” and was subsequently charged with the following:

VTL 1192(4) DWAI Drugs

VTL 2282(1) Unregistered ATV

VTL 2403(1) Unlawful Operation of ATV on Highway

VTL 2407(4) Uninsured Operation of ATV

Lockwood was processed and released on an appearance ticket due back in the Town of Arcade Court on June 9, 2022.

A traffic stop for a suspended registration on Genesee Road in the Town of Arcade on May 23, 2022, subsequently led to the arrest of the owner/operator of the vehicle, Zachary W. Bosinski, 28, of Springville, NY, for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.

Bosinski’s registration was found to be suspended due to insurance not in effect; a further investigation found that his license was also suspended for failing to appear in multiple courts. Bosinski is charged with the following:

VTL 512 operation of a motor vehicle with suspended registration

VTL 511(1a) aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree

VTL 319(1) operating a motor vehicle with no insurance

He was processed roadside and released on an appearance ticket and is due back in the Town of Arcade Court on June 2, 2022.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an address on Route 20A in the Town of Perry for a domestic incident on May 28, 2022.

It was alleged that Julie Eldridge, 37, of Perry, NY, damaged property consisting of cell phone during the incident.

Eldridge was arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree and was arraigned in the Town of Perry Court where an order of protection was issued. Eldridge was released with a return court date of June 8, 2022, at 4:30 PM.
