WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Batavia woman with a criminal history repeatedly fails to appear in court, jailed after a shoplifting complaint

Erica M. Raphael, 37, a convicted felon, and Justin J. Baehr, 31, both of Batavia, were each charged following a shoplifting complaint at Wal-Mart in the Town of Warsaw on May 6th and May 11th, 2022.

The Wal-Mart Asset Protection Investigator assigned to the Warsaw store contacted Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies to report two incidents.

On May 6, 2022, an unknown female had entered the store and attempted to push out a cart filled with merchandise through the lawn and garden doors. When the female found the doors to be locked, she left the merchandise in the store and walked out the front door.

On May 11, 2022, the same unknown female and an unknown male entered the store, filled up a shopping cart with merchandise, but then again left the merchandise in the store and exited the building. When the two exited the building, they stole a bicycle from an outdoor display.

Following an investigation by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of Warsaw Wal-Mart and Brockport Wal-Mart Asset Protection Investigators, the suspects were identified as Erica M. Raphael, age 37, and Justin J. Baehr, age 31, both of Batavia, NY.

Raphael was found to have been banned from entering any Wal-Mart store property from previous shoplifting incidents. Raphael was also found to have four open petit larceny charges from the year 2022 alone, and she also has a history of failure to appear in court for criminal charges. Arrest warrants were signed for Raphael and Baehr on June 15, 2022 by a Warsaw Town Justice.

On June 16, 2022, with the assistance of Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Raphael and Baehr were located inside a hotel room in the Town of Batavia and taken into custody. Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies transported both offenders to the Town of Warsaw Court where they were arraigned on the following charges:

RAPHAEL: Two counts of burglary 3rd degree, a class D felony, two counts of attempted petit larceny, and petit larceny.

BAEHR: attempted petit larceny and petit larceny

Baehr was released on his own recognizance in compliance with NYS Bail Reform. Raphael was committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $5,000.00 cash bail, $10,000.00 bond, or $15,000.00 partially secured bond. Both are scheduled to return to the Town of Warsaw Court on July 11, 2022, for further court proceedings.

A traffic complaint led to the felony arrest of Tiffany M. Walter, 31, of Batavia, NY.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a vehicle on Dale Road in the Town of Warsaw driving erratically and causing oncoming vehicles to leave the roadway. Deputies located the vehicle after it had entered the Village of Warsaw on North Main Street at which time a traffic stop was conducted.

The driver, Tiffany M. Walter, was observed to be displaying general indicators of drug impairment, and she was also found to have a nine-year-old child riding in her vehicle. Walter performed poorly on standardized field sobriety testing at which time she was arrested for DWAI/drugs. Walter’s vehicle was towed from the scene, and her child was released to a sober third party. Walter was taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where she was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. Following the evaluation, Walter was determined to be impaired by multiple categories of drugs an unable to operate a vehicle safely.

Walter is charged with aggravated DWI child in vehicle, a class E Felony, Leandra’s Law, DWAI/drugs driving while ability impaired by drugs, driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs, reckless driving, consumption of cannabis in a motor vehicle, driver’s view obstructed, and following too closely. Walter was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges in Warsaw Town Court on June 27, 2022.

Kiyied A. Ali, 31, of Buffalo, NY, was arrested after he, as a defendant, failed to appear at a jury trial in which he requested. The jury trial was scheduled for May 4, 2022, in Warsaw Village Court, and as of June 15, 2022, Ali had not been in contact with the court.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies charged Ali with bail jumping in the 3rd degree, and an arrest warrant was signed for Ali in Warsaw Court. On June 15, 2022, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Ali and he was arraigned in Warsaw Court on the new charge of bail jumping along with a bench warrant for failure to appear for the jury trial.

Ali was committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 cash bail, $40,000.00 bond, or $60,000.00 partially secured bond. Ali is scheduled to return to Warsaw Court on June 20, 2022, for further court proceedings.

Following a traffic stop for failure to stop at a stop sign on Cadwell Road in the Town of Eagle on June 16, 2022, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested operator Daniel A. COPPOLA Jr., 36, of Freedom, NY, for operating while registration suspended. Coppola was operating a 2008 Ford Explorer that was showing a suspended registration due to an insurance lapse. Coppola was subsequently charged with operating motor vehicle with suspended registration and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Coppola was issued appearance tickets on all the charges and is due back in the Town of Eagle Court on 06/27/22.
