PERRY, NY- Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Castile resident following a DWI Investigation by the Perry Police Department.
On June 24, 2022, the Perry Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for vehicle and traffic law violations. Upon stopping the vehicle and interacting with the driver, it was apparent to officer David Spink that the vehicle operator, Theodore J. Groves, 25, of Castile, NY, was allegedly operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated. Officer Spink then asked Groves to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, to which he complied.
Groves performed poorly on field tests, not following instructions as presented. Officer Spink subsequently placed Groves under arrest for DWI.
He is charged with DWI and driving with a BAC of .08% or more.
A chemical breath test performed at the Perry Police Department determined Groves to be operating the
motor vehicle with a .09% BAC. Per NYS Bail Reform Laws, Groves was released with an appearance ticket for Perry Village Court on August 2, 2022, at 1:00p.m.
