PERRY, NY- Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of two individuals on several charges following an investigation by the Perry Police Department.
On September 1, 2022, at approximately 9:50p.m., officers from the Perry Police Department were dispatched to Crosby’s, at 2 South Center street, for the report of multiple individuals fleeing the store with stolen merchandise.
Officers Spink and Kramell along with Sgt. Russell responded to the area but were unable to immediately locate the individuals involved.
After a brief investigation, officers were able to locate the two suspected individuals at a village residence. The suspects were identified as 20-year-old Jasmine Mayo, of Perry, NY, and 19-year-old Justice Rowlinson, of Avon, NY.
Mayo was taken into custody without incident. Rowlinson, however, immediately became argumentative and combative with officers upon speaking with him. While officers were attempted to place Rowlinson in custody, he began to resist, make threats and make vulgar comments to the officers.
Once in custody, Rowlinson continued to resist officers and their commands, causing damage to a police vehicle. Rowlinson was given several opportunities to comply and cease his behavior, however, he failed to do so. Rowlinson was eventually subdued and both he and Mayo were transported to Perry Police Department for processing.
Mayo is charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor, and Rowlinson is charged with petite larceny, criminal mischief 3rd degree, obstructing governmental administration 2nd degree, and resisting arrest
Per NYS Bail Reform, both Mayo and Rowlinson were released on their own recognizance and are due to appear in Perry Village Court on October 11, 2022, at 1:00p.m.
