The Orleans County Sheriff’s Department participated in the “Shop with a Cop” event at the Albion Walmart store on Rt. 31 on Saturday morning.
Sheriff Bourke says he is proud of the good working relationships between the Sheriff’s Office, Walmart and Orleans County Child and Family Services, which allows the event to be successful each year. Members from the Road Patrol Division, Corrections Division and Communications Division participated today.
Walmart made a donation of $4,000 to the Sheriff’s Office through a Walmart Foundation Grant, which was used to purchase gift cards for underprivileged children. This enabled 10 children to buy gifts for their family members or themselves with some shopping assistance from Sheriff’s Department. Each child was provided with $350.
The Sheriff’s Department also randomly handed out $50 gift cards to some shoppers in the store at the time of the “Shop with a Cop” event.
Santa also visited with the children after shopping.
