The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a motor vehicle accident on Telegraph Road in the Town of Eagle on January 17, 2023.
Deputy A.J. Previty arrived on location and spoke to the driver, John S. Smithers, 60, of Freedom, NY, who lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway.
An investigation showed that Smithers was allegedly driving with a suspended license.
Deputy Previty arrested Smithers, charging him with failure to keep right and aggravated unlicensed operator 3rd degree.
Smithers is to appear in the Town of Eagle Court at a later date.
Smithers also had an arrest warrant out of the Town of Arcade. The Arcade Justice was unavailable. Wyoming County Supreme Court arraigned Smithers on the warrant. He was released on recognizance and is to appear in the Town of Arcade Court at a later date.

Following a traffic complaint on an older Ford Explorer reportedly driving all over the road on
Route 77 in the Town of Sheldon on January 22, 2023, Daniel C. Camann, 36, of Amherst, NY, was arrested for DWI.
Camann was found in the above-described vehicle on Route 78 in the Town of Java. Camann was allegedly exhibiting general indicators of impairment and failed standardized field sobriety testing roadside.
Camann was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he refused to submit to a
chemical test and was charged with DWI, one or more convictions in the past ten years, a class E Felony.
It was determined that Camann had a prior DWI conviction in the Town of Amherst in 2017,
resulting in a felony charge.
Camann was arraigned in the Village of Warsaw Court by Judge Errington where his New York State driver’s license was taken away. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in the Town of Java Court on 02/01/2023 at 7:30p.m.

Jessica A. Sheppard, 41, of Fredonia, NY, was arrested following a traffic stop in the Town of
Warsaw on January 14, 2023. Shepard was stopped on Route 20A for a speeding violation.
An investigation led to the discovery of Shepard’s license to be actively suspended in New York State. Shepard was subsequently arrested and charged with speeding in a 55 mile per hour zone and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree.
Shephard was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Warsaw Court on 01/30/2023 for initial arraignment.

On January 23, 2023 at 2:47a.m., Christopher E. Wood, 25, of Owings Mills, Maryland, was arrested
following a business check in the hamlet of Perry Center.
Deputies located a running vehicle parked at a closed business with the operator of the
vehicle asleep. While speaking with Wood, the operator of the vehicle, signs of drug impairment were allegedly observed, and Wood submitted to field sobriety testing. He was then placed under arrest for
DWAI/Drugs and transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for a drug influence evaluation.
Wood was allegedly found to be impaired and not able to operate a vehicle safely.
Wood is charged with consumption of cannabis in a motor vehicle and DWAI-drugs. He was
issued an appearance ticket for both charges and will appear in the Town of Perry Court on
February 1, 2023

On January 21, 2023, Michael C. Schulz, no age provided, of Bennington, NY, was arrested following a complaint at his residence. Schulz is charged with reckless endangerment 2nd degree,
after interfering with the repossession of a vehicle.
Schulz was released with an appearance ticket and is to appear in Bennington Town Court at a later date.
