BATAVIA POLICE BLOTTER/Rochester man accused of throwing narcotics out the window during attempted traffic stop

Marquis K. Saddler, 32, of Post Avenue, Rochester, NY, is charged with tampering with evidence, criminal possession of a controlled substance third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance fourth degree, failing to yield to emergency vehicle and illegal turn signal. On 3/14/23, Officer Gombos arrested Saddler for the above charges after a traffic stop on Naramore Drive.  It is alleged that while Officer Gombos was attempting to pull over Saddler’s vehicle, he failed to stop and then allegedly threw a quantity of a narcotic out of the driver’s window.  Saddler was arrested, arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Part Court, and held at the Genesee County Jail.

Kyle J. Schroeder, 26, of Clinton Street Road, Batavia, NY was arrested on four bench warrants issued by Batavia City Court. On 3/22/23 Officer Rissinger arrested Schroeder on four bench warrants issued by Batavia City Court.  The bench warrants stem from four separate incidents as follows:  4/23/22- Schroeder is alleged to have entered a residence on Liberty Street, wherein he allegedly stole a pack of cigarettes.  He was arrested on 4/25/22 and issued an appearance ticket.  On 4/29/22, Schroeder was arrested for DWI/drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree.  He was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released.  On 8/25/22, patrols were called to a check the welfare of a subject “tweaking out” behind a business on East Main Street.  The subject was identified as Schroeder and arrested on bench warrants for failing to appear on the previous two arrests.  Schroeder was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree after he was allegedly found to possess crack pipes and baggies during this arrest.  Schroeder was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released. On 10/20/22, Schroeder was arrested for criminal mischief while at court on another matter.  Schroeder allegedly kicked and damaged an electrical lock box on the exterior of a business on Jackson Street so that he could charge a cell phone.  He was arraigned and released under the supervision of Genesee Justice. On 1/28/23 Schroeder was arrested for failure to appear on warrants for all above arrests.  He was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Part Court, status unknown. On 3/22/23, Schroeder was again arrested on bench warrants for failing to appear on all above arrests.  He was again arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Part Court, status unknown.

Christine M. Caplis, 42, of Clinton Street Road, Batavia, NY, was arrested on a bench warrant for failing to appear out of Batavia City Court. On 3/23/23, Officer Freeman arrested Caplis on a bench warrant for failing to appear issued by Batavia City Court when she was found walking on Summit Street. Caplis was originally arrested for failure to pay for services from a local restaurant on 11/05/2021 and issued an appearance ticket.  Caplis was then arrested on six subsequent failure to appear warrants from this charge: 12/28/21 (arraigned and released), 6/26/22 (appearance ticket issued per Judge), 8/13/22 (arraigned and released under supervision), 9/18/22 (released with an appearance ticket), 10/7/22 (arraigned and held pending return to court).  2/18/23 (Centralized Arraignment Part Court, status unknown).  On this most recent failure to appear arrest, Caplis was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Part Court, status unknown. 

Alexander C. Schwartz, 27, of Harwin Drive, Rochester, NY, was arrested on a bench warrant for failing to appear and is charged with bail jumping in the second degree. On 3/22/23, Officer Defelice arrested Schwartz on a bench warrant for failing to appear and he was additionally charged with bail jumping in the second degree.  Schwartz was transported from the Niagara County Jail to Batavia City Court where he was arraigned, and custody remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of bail.  The bench warrant stems from an arrest on 11/13/22, for aggravated unlicensed operation first and speeding.  Schwartz was arraigned in Batavia City Court on that date and released under the supervision of Genesee Justice after which he failed to appear. 

Jamie L. Broadbent, 40, of W. Main Street, Batavia, NY, was arrested on a bench warrant for failure to appear. On 3/21/23, Officer Crossett arrested Broadbent on a bench warrant for failure to appear. Broadbent was arraigned and released. Broadbent was originally arrested on 9/10/22 for grand larceny fourth degree after allegedly stealing an electric bicycle.  She was issued an appearance ticket and released at that time. 

James A. Reinhardt, 54, of South Lake Road, Corfu, NY, is charged with aggravated DWI, failure to keep right, moving from a lane unsafely, and failed to use designated lane. On 3/18/23, Officer Gombos arrested Reinhardt on the above charges after a traffic stop on West Main Street at approximately 2:22 am.  Reinhardt was issued tickets to appear in Batavia City Court at a later date.

Joanne M. Robbins-Lockwood, 55, of Bank Street, Batavia, NY, is charged with DWI and operating with no head lights. On 3/17/23, Officer Gombos arrested Robbins-Lockwood on the above charges. Robbins-Lockwood was stopped on Ross Street at approximately 9:20 pm for allegedly not using her headlights and then being found to be allegedly intoxicated. Robbins-Lockwood was issued traffic tickets to appear in Batavia City Court at a later date.

Johnney L. Shannon, 64, of Creek Road, Batavia, NY, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree. On 3/19/23, Officer Gombos arrested Shannon on the above charge after an investigation into a traffic stop on Washington Avenue.  It is alleged that Shannon was stopped for traffic violations. During the traffic stop, City Police requested for K9 Batu to assist with the vehicle, which led to finding several bags of a narcotic inside of the vehicle. Shannon was arrested and issued appearance tickets to appear in City Court at a later date.

Loretta L. Baer, 51, of Wood Street, Batavia, NY, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree. On 3/19/23, Officer Gombos arrested Baer on the above charge after an investigation into a traffic stop on Washington Avenue.  It is alleged that Baer was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for traffic violations. During the traffic stop City Police requested for K9 Batu to assist with the vehicle, which led to finding several bags of a narcotic inside of the vehicle. Baer was arrested and issued appearance tickets to appear in City Court on a later date.

Haley M. Larnder, 23, of River Street, Batavia, NY, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree. On 3/19/23, Officer Rissinger arrested Larnder, charging her with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree. Larnder is alleged to have been in possession of a narcotic when she was arrested by Officer Rissinger on a warrant out of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.  Larnder was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Batavia City Court on 4/10/23 and turned over to Genesee County Sheriff’s Office on their warrant.

Michael S. Veihdeffer, 50, of S. Royal Parkway, Lockport, NY, is charged with driving while intoxicated and equipment violations. On 3/18/23 Officer Weglarski arrested Veihdeffer for driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop on West Main Street Road at approximately 1:45 am.  Veihdeffer was issued tickets to appear in Batavia City Court on 4/05/23 and released to a sober third party.
