The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious physical injury two car motor vehicle accident that occurred in the area of 232 State Route 5 in the Town of Pembroke.
The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received the 9 -1-1 call reporting the personal injury accident at 05:31 PM.
Upon arrival, patrols observed operators of the two vehicles entrapped inside their respected vehicles. The first vehicle involved was a 2019 Dodge Ram, color black, traveling eastbound on State Route 5, operated by a Jacob Brainard, age 25, of Bowmansville, NY. The second vehicle involved was a 2002 Ford 350 pickup truck. color tan traveling westbound on State Route 5, operated by a Zachary Miller-
Barillari, age 19, of Williamsville, NY.
Both vehicles were single occupant vehicles.
The Dodge Ram pickup operated by Brainard was traveling east down the middle of the roadway, when Brainard took corrective action back into the eastbound lane of travel. The Ford 350 operated by Miller- Barillari was traveling west on State Route 5 in the west bound lane. Miller then directed his vehicle into the eastbound lane of travel. Both pickups then collided with each other head on in the eastbound
lane of travel. Both vehicles then proceeded to continue off the south shoulder of the
road where they both came to rest in a ditch.
Both operators had to be extricated from their vehicles by Pembroke Fire Department.
Miller-Barillari was transported via Mercy Flight to ECMC for serious injuries. Brainard was also transported via Mercy ambulance to ECMC for injuries as well.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation with the investigation being handled by members of the Genesee County Crash Management Team.
Assisting at the scene were members of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Road Division, Mercy EMS, Indian Falls Fire Department, and Town of Pembroke Fire Department.
