Over 750 people participated in the 10th Annual GLOW Corporate Cup at Centennial Park on Thursday evening in Batavia. The event is a big part of fundraising for GLOW YMCA’s in the region.

“It’s a hot night and there’s other things going on, but everyone here today is a winner because look how hot it is, they’re walking, they’re running, and they’re doing it for the Y,” says Steve Tufts, Race Director at the GLOW Corporate Cup.

Funds raised at the yearly event help assist those who may not be able to afford YMCA programs and services.

“It’s a really important part of our mission is that no one is turned away due to their inability to pay, that’s the whole reason we’re doing this. I would say this event, over the last 10 years, has raised over $200,000, $20,000 a year at least”, says Rob Walker/CEO of GLOW YMCA

“We’re very proud of what this does for the YMCA and the community, specifically Y scholarships.”

The event was the idea of Steve Tufts and John Riter at Merrill Lynch in Batavia.

“I do want to give Steve Tufts a lot of credit, he’s been our race director for 10 years, passionate, he makes this go very smoothly and safely, and John Riter with Merrill Lynch. This was actually their brainchild of an idea on how to help the community.”

First place finisher, Zak Jantzi, 22, of Batavia, with a time of 17:16

Kim Mills, 32, of Oakfield was the women’s first place winner for 2023 with a time of 20:25. Mills was 6th overall and has frequently been the women’s first place winner at the GLOW Corporate Cup.
