Roger Martin (pictured below) passed away last December; he was able to attend last year’s inaugural BID Box Car Derby event last August. The above soap box car was his. Martin created the car and won the Coyle Trophy in the 1940 Batavia Soap Box Derby. His son David brought the car to the BID Box car race on Saturday and drove it down the hill from the new ramp. David Martin says the car still runs a good race, and the brakes still work very well.
