On December 30, 2023, at about 1:10a.m., deputies with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office were investigating a domestic incident that occurred at a residence on Route 20A in the Town of Perry, when an unknown vehicle pulled into the driveway of the residence being investigated.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Racheal E. Mead, 28, of Perry, NY, who stated she was a family member and advised she was there to pick up her two children that were staying at the residence. While interviewing Mead, deputies believed she was under the influence and began a DWI investigation which included administering standardized field sobriety testing.
At around 1:23a.m., following standardized field sobriety testing, which Mead performed poorly, Mead was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. Mead was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where she submitted to a Datamaster DMT certified breath test, which showed Mead had a blood alcohol content of .18% or greater. It was also discovered that Mead was previously convicted of DWI in the Silver Springs Village Court in 2021.
Mead was ultimately charged with felony Driving While Intoxicated – Prior Conviction within 10 years and felony Aggravated DWI – Blood Alcohol Content .18 or Greater – Prior Conviction within 10 years .
Mead was processed and released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Perry Town Court at a later date. Following processing, Mead was transported to her residence and turned over to a sober third party.
