WARSAW, NY – The 15th annual Pride of Wyoming County Agriculture Dinner, presented by Channel Seed, was held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the North Java Fire Hall. Seven outstanding awardees were recognized and celebrated for their accomplishments and work in the agriculture industry.
The Wyoming County Chamber & Tourism office presented the Agri-Business of the Year award to Burley Berries and Blooms-The Creamery, located in Perry. The award is given annually to an agri-business that exhibits any or all of the following criteria including expansion projects, job growth, community involvement, and contributions that strengthen the agricultural industry.
Val Henrici from Yummies Ice Cream in Warsaw was recognized for receiving the North American Ice Cream Association Triple Scoop Award, only one of three ice cream shops in the country to receive the award for blue ribbons for vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream flavors.
The Good Neighbor Award was presented to Walter Faryna, at Halo Farms, LLC, in Perry, and the Friend of Agriculture award will be presented to Rosemary “Rosie” Shader. These awards are given by the Wyoming County Farm Bureau and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wyoming County.
The Wyoming County Soil and Water Conservation District also presented the annual Conservation District Farm of the Year award to Deere Stone Farms, LLC; the Ronald P. Herman Partner of the year award to Matt Havens, Soil Scientist, USDA/NRCS; and the Agricultural Environmental Management award to Spencer Brothers Farms, LLC.
The Wyoming County Chamber & Tourism office partners annually with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wyoming County, the Wyoming County Soil and Water Conservation District, and members of the agriculture community including farms and agri-businesses. The sell-out event celebrates and recognizes the important impact of agriculture in Wyoming County.
