On March 7, 2024, members of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the FBI Buffalo Field Office, conducted a search warrant at an address on Buffalo Street Road in the Town of Alexander.
As a result, a resident at the address, John P. Volpe, 71, was charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, course of sexual conduct against a child 1st degree, criminal sexual act 1st degree (2 counts), attempted rape 1st degree, aggravated sexual abuse 2nd degree, aggravated sexual abuse 1st degree, aggravated sexual abuse 3rd degree, attempted criminal sexual act 1st degree, sexual abuse 1st degree (3 counts), rape 3rd degree, criminal sexual act 3rd degree (2 counts), and forcible touching (2 counts).
Volpe allegedly engaged in numerous acts of sexual conduct involving a child beginning in about 2012, lasting until 2024 with a known victim.
Volpe was arraigned in Genesee County CAP Court and held in $20,000 bail.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted at the scene by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Police.
