Officials from the City of Batavia gathered at Bank Street and Alva Place, the site where construction has started on a new $15 million police station and headquarters in Downtown Batavia, for an official groundbreaking on Friday morning.

The 20,000 square foot facility will replace the current police station and headquarters which has been located in the Brisbane Mansion, that was built in 1855.
Among those in attendance, representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture, which is financing the facility, former United States Representative Christopher L. Jacobs who along with Senator Chuck Schumer helped secure a $2.5 million grant, United States Representative Claudia Tenney, Assemblyman Stephen Hawley, and members of the Batavia City Council.
