On Tuesday, May 4, 2024, Emmanuel Jenkins, age 38, was found guilty following a two-day bench trial before the Honorable Melissa Lightcap Cianfrini of the following charges: Attempted Rape first degree, a Class “C” Felony, Robbery first degree, a Class “B” Felony, Assault second degree, a Class “D” Felony, and Criminal Possession of a weapon third degree, a Class “D” Felony. The defendant was found not guilty of Criminal Mischief in the third Degree. Jenkins faces a sentence of up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on July 17, 2024.
Jenkins committed the crime in Attica Correctional Facility against a civilian employee. At the time of the crime, Jenkins was incarcerated in Attica and serving a sentence of 15 years to life for three counts of Predatory Sexual Assault, two counts Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the third degree, and three counts of Rape in the first degree.
Acting District Attorney Vincent A. Hemming said, “When the Defendant appears for sentencing, we will be recommending that the Defendant be sentenced to the maximum sentence allowed by law. Given the facts of this case, and Defendant’s criminal history as a serial rapist, he should never be allowed out of prison.”
