GENESEE COUNTY/Man charged after day long standoff

On June 11, 2024 at about 12:25 p.m., the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Route 5 and Wortendyke Road to investigate a report of gunshots heard in the area. The ensuing investigation
corroborated the account of gunshots being heard in what is a residential area.

A search warrant was ultimately obtained for a residence on Route 5 in the Town of Batavia. At about 10:15p.m., members of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office carried out the search warrant with assistance from the Batavia City Police Department.

The single occupant of the residence, Ryan J. Goldman, age 31, was taken into custody without incident. It is alleged that Goldman fired a number of rounds from a rifle while in close proximity to several residences.

Goldman was subsequently charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd — A Misdemeanor
Discharge of a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Residence — U Misdemeanor

Goldman was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Batavia Town Court on June 25, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. and subsequently released from custody.
