Press release
The rally on Monday coincides with a nationwide day of action commemorating the second anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling by the Supreme Court, which held that the constitution did not confer the right to an abortion.
Despite some recent victories, like the recent Supreme Court ruling that maintained access to mifepristone, also known as the “abortion pill,” this rally’s recollection of the Dobbs decision, reminds us that the state of these rights can rapidly change, often for the worse. Furthermore, the highly lopsided and conservative composition of the Supreme Court, as well as factors that the Supreme Court will likely not be involved in such as reactionary state and local governments and deceptive “crisis pregnancy centers,” which serve as duplicitous anti-abortion propaganda centers, underscore that we need to not become complacent and need to continue fighting for reproductive justice and bodily autonomy for all.
